First Food Drive

It was a huge surprise early in the year after numerous meetings with Emma and friends at the American school in Lekki, Lagos, when the team from Hope for life arrived at the school  in the afternoon to pick up the non-perishable food items that were to be donated to the widows at Ikorodu.   It was a great participation of many happy students willing to help disadvantaged children and widows. The idea to carry out the food drive came about when the widows made a passionate plea to Emi Ebare, co-ordinator at HFLI, that food was a priority, that sometimes it was difficult to feed their children. Anyway, the day arrived with a great deal of anticipation on the part of our team, eager to make a success of the program. Emma and friends with the support of the school principal, Mr Wyncoll,  Janet, a teacher  and Emma’s  mother, Claartje all played a crucial role in making the food drive a huge success

After presentation to Hope for life initiative the items with the help of the students were put in the bus for the journey to Ikorodu for the widows. Involving the students in the project enabled the team at Hope for Life to share true lives stories on how disadvantaged children and widows live in Ikorodu.  For us, It was a delight because it was an avenue created by the School Principal to enable the students make a difference in the lives of these widows.  It was all about saying to the students, if you have extra food, non-perishable at home, someone needs it and will be made happy just having food on the table for a day.

We intend to make this an annual event and if possible increase the number of times we reach out through this platform. We encourage schools, individuals that can help with this drive to contact us as generous contributions are towards a good cause.
