Goodwill Message by Amb. Dr. Christopher Kolade

I offer my very warm greetings to all who are gathered this morning to take part in the Mentoring and Tree Planting Initiative at Ikorodu. I had planned to be there myself, to participate and to enjoy the company of the Principal and Staff, the Children and the General Manager and Management Team from LASPARK, but, to my regret, I now have to stay back in Lagos to attend to another assignment. Please accept my regret and apology for this.

Our programme this morning is a very important one for the welfare and future of our school, for our town, and for the country of Nigeria as a whole. I want all the children here today to realize that you are doing something very significant. Why do we need tree planting? Because it brings great benefit to the environment, and helps to keep all of us in good health by maintaining the balance in our climate. I know that your teachers will explain to you how this happens. The important thing to know is that we, as the people, have to accept responsibility for making sure that this balance is established, and that it is sustained from generation to generation. The children here today are not just accepting responsibiity, they are TAKING RESPONSIBILITY for playing an excellent role in this endeavour. Although we are still very young, we must continue to do whatever we can to make the world around us a better place. We are never too young to do this, and I am glad that we are TAKING RESPONSIBILITY today, to show that we are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but we are already showing our leadership now, and adding value to our country through our young efforts. I offer you my hearty congratulations.

I also ask the Principal, Teachers, Parents, and the LASPARK Team to accept my congratulations for their support and encouragement of this initiative. The reward will come in full as you watch these children grow into responsible adults in the next few years.

My final word is for Ms. Kendi Aig-Imoru, Founder and Leader of the Hope for Life Initiative. I speak for all of us when I say that I admire and respect your passionate dedication to the development and improvement of the young ones of this generation. The Lord has given you the vision and the energy for this initiative, and He will continue to bless your faithfulness in doing what he has laid on your heart. You deserve every commendation for your courage and love for your country. We will continue to give you all the support that we can as you press forward with your mission.

Once again, my very warm congratulations to everyone..God bless you all.
